To ensure optimal performance, it is essential to follow the application guidelines carefully. First, the surface should be quickly pre-cleaned to remove any tough contaminants, using a damp cloth. A final wipe with a dry cloth is recommended to complete the surface preparation.

Next, the surface should be primed. This can be done by applying a primer onto a disposable towel, followed by a dry towel. Alternatively, a dauber bottle and a dry towel or a foam brush can be used.

Light abrasion by hand is then recommended to prepare the substrate. After abrading, it is crucial to clean the substrate thoroughly to remove any sanding debris from the bond area.

When applying the tape, start at the edge of the surface and lay it down, applying constant pressure as you go. Use a dense J-roller to apply a roll-down force of at least 15 lbs over the entire area, ensuring a strong bond between the tape and the first substrate surface. Once the tape is in place, remove the protective liner to apply the second substrate.

It is important to note that the 3M tape may not feel overly sticky to the touch after removing the release paper. This is a characteristic of the 3M adhesive, which requires a certain amount of force and continuous pressing to release its full stickiness. This feature makes it convenient for repositioning if the initial placement is incorrect.

For optimal performance, the tape should be allowed to fully bond for 72 hours, during which time the weight should not be applied to the bonded surfaces. If the tape feels less sticky in colder weather, it is recommended to use a hair dryer to gently warm it up before application.

This 3M VHB Double-Sided Tape is not suitable for use on surfaces with a lychee pattern, peeling, rough textures, or silicone materials. However, it provides a reliable and waterproof solution for a wide range of smooth and clean surfaces, including glass, metal, plastic, tile, wood, and marble.
